rolling up our sleeves/ Christ like qualities

This week I really wanted to talk about our work ethic. It is truly important to have a strong work ethic. That includes not only putting in long hours but your attitude regarding your work, who you're working with, how helpful you are, how often you question peoples motives, and whether you are honest, trustworthy and loyal.

It is important to have your own opinion. This is what makes us unique gives diversity to life and especially in the work place. We all need to be able to offer different perspectives and opinions when trying to solve problems and this comes from our different diversities.
It is equally important to be able to work well with your coworkers. We watched a clip about a guy who said that he only hires nice people. How true that is. It's great that you have confidence but if you can't work with others and take correction because you've brought your ego to work than you need to go home. Nothing can get accomplished when the team can't work together.

I also thought about the problem of asking too many questions. When my boss asks me to do something do jump right in and get it done, or do I ask why and have to be told and convinced of the reasons first. If I'm not the decision maker that it doesn't matter the why and it's not my job to question. I've had this experience this fall with a new employee we have. She's a great worker and is knowledgeable with her skills. This has been a great asset to our company. The problem comes when I try to tell her the sequence of events that must take place or that a process must happen a particular way I have to convince her first that it is the best option and why every single step must be taken before she is even willing to participate. This gets old and is frustrating. I'm going to try to make sure that I don't do this when my boss calls me. Sometimes it is appropriate and other times it just isn't necessary to have all the details.

Other points of interest were regarding being an optimist. I should try to see things and events as opportunities more and not as, "how much can I gain from this." As well as when I meet someone or a person comes across my path I will look at them with an attitude of how I can help them and better their life/day in some way. These are Christ-like attributes that I would like to have and that I can work on. Besides, I'm appealing to my carnal self for a  moment, the Lord has told us that if we seek for riches we should first seek the kingdom of God and the riches will follow. If I'm constantly look for opportunities to serve others than the Lord will provide the means necessary to do so. I was taught this from my father and still believe it to be true.

Then, there is the point of being trustworthy. If people cannot trust people than commerce really cannot exist. I trust that the product I buy is what it says that it is and will function properly and depending on  the amount of money I invest I expect to receive equal quality. If I get ripped off then I do not wish to do business with that company anymore. Also, if I provide a service I trust that I will get paid. With out these give and takes we turn inward and do not wish to do business with others. Even the conman is trusting that you will follow through on your end or he cannot do business with you either.
